Wood Pattern

Does anyone know what you call those "Z" pattern things used to connect 2 pieces of wood?
I've usually come across them on screen and outside doors. My garage (Barn type) doors have them. I'm making new doors and these would really help hold it together.
They are just plain ole fasteners.Go to the hardware store and look at all the different fasteners for yourself.You can choose a variety of different fasteners for your specific applications
