An easel is simply an upright support that is used for displaying or fixing something resting upon it. Typically made for artists, easels provide a working plane in which their canvas or sketchpad have a sturdy place to sit while the artist manipulates the material. There are five common types of artist easels. When you want to begin some new artist projects, you may think of purchasing one of the following.
1. A table top easel: This is typically the cheapest type of easel you can get. They are very small and often times collapsible so that they take up no space at all. These types of easels are made for smaller canvases and they are usually made from either metal or wood.
2. A paint-box easel: This is a great easel for beginner artists. This is because they come equipped with a canvas carrier, an easel, and a container box all as one package. This is a great tool for outdoor painting.
3. A French easel: French easels tend to be used by painting professionals. They can be folded up and easily transported. Sometimes they are offered at very large sizes complete with a canvas carrier and storage space as well. The best part about French easels is their easy to adjust capabilities; it makes painting at different angles a breeze.
4. A tri-pod easel: This is an easel which is based on three legs. They are unique because they come with a crossbar which makes the working plane sturdy. There is also vertical adjustability making any project easy to handle.
5. A display easel: This type of easel is primarily used to display finished pieces of work. Most of the times they are used in presentation settings in the business world or as advertisement holders at supplies stores.
If you are thinking about expressing yourself artistically, you need to get your ideal easel. Choose from a table top easel, a paint-box easel, French easels or a tri-pod easel. Other types include the H-frame easels, a studio easel or for the most convenience, portable easels. Choose whichever one suits you.
