Hobby Table

How can I get the family to eat at the dinner table & is it really worth it?
My family eats in front of the computer and TV. I feel incredibly delinquent doing this, but eating at the table is painfully boring, especially since my partner eats phenomenally fast and then I feel bad making him stay at the table watching the rest of us finishing up eating - that is, me and two toddlers. Yes, I'm a bad mother for allowing my kids to eat in front of the TV. But the times that I have tried getting us all to eat at the table was a recipe for boredom, frayed nerves, and frustrations. Not fun. Boredom for the adults, frustration on my part at trying to get the kids to finish up eating so that we could get on to other more interesting things. I try to have a conversation with my husband at the table, but he's not that interested. He just eats as fast as possible so that he can get back to his computer or hobby or TV. And if I have a go at him about it, I just feel like a nagging mother/wife. What to do?
My husband was the same way...and even though my kids are very young, I didn't want them to get used to dinner that way. I finally just pushed and pushed until he agreed to eat at the table in order to keep the peace (and he also ate as fast as he could to get back to "the big game"). If everyone was at the table, I was happy and let it go at that...these are people I love and I had confidence that once this became "normal" everything would work out. It did and it does! We catch up with what happened during the day and talk about all sorts of things we wouldn't otherwise. Stick with it...it's worth it! It is boring right now because it isn't your normal routine. Once it is, things will be more smooth.
