Raw Sienna
Of the following, raw sienna can best be described as a?
A. color used for details only
B. pure orange
C. mix of two seperate colors
D. tone of high-intensity
Raw Sienna is a pure, natural color (as opposed to Burnt Sienna, which is derived from Raw Sienna) so this leaves out number C.
Orange is orange. While Raw Sienna is in the same color family as orange it still is not orange. So I would rule out number B.
Raw Sienna is rarely used for details, at least not by any of the artists I know. Where is is commonly used is as an under-laying coat that provides 'shadow,' a depth feeling.
As a natural pigment raw sienna is pretty powerful and I would guess that your teacher is implying that it's qualities are intense and the answer should be D.
