Anyone know of toddler-safe magnets?
My 13 month old loves playing with our fridge magnets, but the only toddler safe ones are the flat ones (usually business-card magnets) that he can't get a good grip on. All the magnets I've looked for online say not for children under 3. I know how dangerous magnets can be if swallowed, but why would those big, chunky magnets (like the Melissa and Doug ones) be unsafe? The magnets cover the entire backs and are far too big too be swallowed. So I'm wondering, is it just a regulation that ALL magnets have be labeled as unsafe for kids under 3? Or are these types really unsafe? And if so, anyone know of any toddler-safe ones? Thank you!!!
I think that like anything as long as we use good judgement, they will be safe. When my daughter was littler I found that Speciality gift stores usually had fun magnets at the checkout area. As long as they are in one complete piece, I don't see how they could be a safety concern.
Now make gear-agous fun on the fridge! Great way to keep the kids in sight and out of trouble while you're making dinner!
