Art Stencil
I want to put a one line poem over a vintage map as a piece of art.?
I want to put a one line poem over a vintage map as a piece of art but I don't have good or artistic handwriting. How can I do this? A stencil seems too difficult. Are there artsy mylar letters I can use or cool style stickers? Can I get something printed on transparent acetate? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
It depends on the dimensions of the map and how much you're willing to spend.
There are companies that make self-adhesive letters/numbers. You can find these at bigger craft chain stores or search online for artist supply stores.
You can also purchase printable acetate in letter (8.5x11) size that can be used in a laser or inkjet printer. If your map is larger than 8.5x11 you can create the text on your computer and take the file to a print shop and have them print it for you...it may be a little pricey.
You can also search for "calligraphers" online or at your local arts & crafts store and have the text hand lettered onto the map. This will also be a little pricey and the results will vary depending on the age, paper, and ink used to print the map.
